24 Dates in 2024 -Date #1

Netflix ruined going to the movies for me! Nothing beats sweatpants, soft, fluffy blankets, and microwaved popcorn.
A bag for me and one for you, paired with a nice red.
All while reclining in your favorite family room spot.
So – when Ken said how about a movie, I looked at him like he was a Leprechaun that spawned from a video game. I want to go out to a movie like. . . nope! The idea behind 24 dates in 2024 was to at least make it somewhat interesting.
Now enters the twist. ”Hear me out.” Ken quickly says, because, in all honesty, I will keep talking or check out.
Imma working on that!
Looks like AMC offers a “Screen Unseen” event for never-before-seen films for $5.00 which is less than my microwaved bag of popcorn.

It’s a blind-movie-date !
We have no idea what movie we are watching. We know the rating, the time, the location, and the less than a bag of microwaved popcorn price. This unknown variable peaked my interest. We hadn’t done that before. Trying to figure out what movie it could be and talking about what we would like to see made the pre-date more engaging.
Ken was cheering for The Book of Clarence and I was hoping for American Fiction.
We could cheat and check run times, but that defeats the whole mystery and will have me back in the recliner faster than my microwaved popcorn can beep.
Have you figured out that I like microwaved popcorn, yet?
Bonus points! We are among the first to experience and chime in on said mystery movie.
And. . . what did we see?
Origin, directed by Ava Duvernay ( Selma), starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. I debated reviewing the movie here, but that’s not this blog. I’m no Rotten Tomato expert.
Was it worth our time and would we do it again? Yes and yes!
Up next something a bit more gravity defying (hint-hint).
