24 Dates in 2024 – Date #2
A one size-fits-all head-sock was not ready.

For a South Jersey couple, we sure do like to cross bridges. Hey – it’s the beauty of living in New Jersey, centrally located near major cities filled with cool and exciting places.

We skipped the Philly cheesesteaks and the King of Prussia shopping, to Ken’s disappointment; the shopping, that is, and found our way to the indoor sky diving center, ifly.

Listen or read in this case.

I. AM. TERRIFIED of heights.

When I suggested to Ken that we go to ifly for date #2 for 24 dates in 2024, he hit me quick with that southern drawl, “Yeaaah”, which is a question, not a statement.

As the words rolled out, I wanted to stuff them back like you would, chowing down on your favorite WAWA hoagie.

2024 is about new experiences with each other right in our back yard. Fear is going to have to sit down somewhere. We don’t have time for that! We have 22 more dates to plan and enjoy.

When you push through fears, sometimes, something beautiful is on the other side. Who knew indoor sky diving would evoke introspective thoughts?

Let’s get to the good stuff!

First off, the ifly facility is quite spectacular. As first-timers, we didn’t know what to expect, and videos fail to capture the feeling of just being in the building. The sight of the massive wind tunnel and seeing people suspended in mid-air creates visual perception difficulty.

My brain is asking, “Do my eyes really see this?” It’s mind bending.

The energy of the staff was on-point-positive! You know the saying, “People make a place.” Welp. This. This was it. The team at the King of Prussia ifly embodied what I think might be the company’s philosophy – “Good Vibes Only.”

Before the flight, we were introduced to Cody, our instructor, who was calm, collected, and knowledgeable with a dash of swag. He exuded fun with safety and is an American Ninja Warrior.

Cody with “Warrior” tat!

Ok. Let me repeat. An American Ninja Warrior! Ya’ll God sent us a ninja to fly! I’m gonna be alright.

Bye, fear!

Cody asked who would go first, and I pointed to Ken like a little brother ratting out his siblings. Ken and I enjoyed two (1 minute) High Flights, which take you up high – duh! You can hover, and I was down to hover, but then a Ninja came along, and I think I might have been a bird in a previous life.

It. Was. Phenomenal.

In truth, I am struggling to properly share the sensation that flying gives you. The sense of soaring and gliding and having your body meld to the wind’s direction was such a fantastic experience. To get a glimpse of what a bird gliding in the winds lives for is as close as I can get.

It’s early in the year to claim a favorite date, but it’s gonna be pretty difficult to top this one. Ken liked it so much that he was about to purchase additional flights that we could use in the future.

Ken, my angel on earth with his ifly cert.

Would we recommend it and go back? That’s a yeaaah, no question about it!
