24 Dates in 2024 – Date #22

Any place with kid decor is a winner!

How sweet it is to find someone to love who loves you back. Someone who becomes your person over the years. Understands what makes you tick, ticks you off, and still loves you anyway!

It’s even sweeter when you know there is more to learn and discover about your person and the world around you, and they are willing to explore it with you.

God bless Ken for organizing these 24 dates in 2024, a special project we embarked on to celebrate our 24 years of togetherness. This year, we’ve been to Denver, Vegas, New York, and all parts of Jersey, including Central – and Yeah – that’s a thing!

We’ve actually made it to date #22! It was the only date whose primary purpose was to serve up sweets. We aren’t foodies, and none of our dates included food spots. It’s something to consider for 2025. But trust- we will never be foodies. My tastebuds are unadventurous.

We agree ( even if Ken thinks, “We do?”) that the sweetest things in life are filled with two essential ingredients – togetherness and chocolate. Let’s be honest – chocolate needs to be involved, and we are talking about high-end hit-you-in-the-head chocolate with your eyes rolling in the back of your head.

Chocolate and Vanilla Vegan Ice Cream – A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

And that is precisely what The Bent Spoon, host of date #22 of our 24 dates in 2024, did. I’m still checking my eyeballs after eating the vegan chocolate ice cream. This was my first dance with vegan ice cream, and it was a delightful surprise. I felt confident in ordering since there was a line down the block to get into this spot. I am shocked at the wizard who made a vegan version of ice cream; somehow, it was creamy and lacked nothing!

I’ve had some faux-ice cream before – lactose-free, sugar-free, frozen banana disappointment. Something was always missing, but not with The Bent Spoon version of chocolate ice cream.

Ken ordered the hot chocolate and immediately handed the coco in my direction with, “You are going to love this!”— and I did. The only way to describe this hot yumminess is to imagine Willy Wonka melting a Golden Ticket Chocolate Bar, which granted access to his magical factory, and pouring it into a cup.

The Bent Spoon – just in case you didn’t catch the name.

The only thing that I was slightly disappointed in was my initial reaction to the line. I had a tinge of FOMO. (google it if you must) I mean, how long has this place existed? Why had I not heard about it before? But that feeling quickly faded as I realized I had stumbled upon a new favorite dessert spot.

Shout out to fellow Jersey girl @jerseygirltravels for introducing us to this gem. As a bonus, this spot is in Princeton, so we quickly visited one of our boys before heading home.

We highly recommend The Bent Spoon for when that sweet tooth hits and the chocolate demon demands deliciousness!

Up next date #23 – with one date left in our journey, will it be the encore or a quick curtain call? Stay tuned for the grand finale!
